My husband and I are both vets, I am a disable vet so that will probably work in our favor. Does anyone know how to go about getting contracts with private and government entities? Is there a web site that could give us more information on how to start the process of bidding on contracts?
My husband is a computer scientist, a Feac certified enterprise architect and a computer programer so we would be looking for contracts in that area.

Other than what's already been posted here I can't add much more value...but I will emphasize that (1) you need a business plan...might sound like an exercise that is not necessary but the facts show that most businesses that fail did not have a business line; and (2) avail yourself of the local and mostly "free" resources that are available to you for advice...check with SCORE, the Small Business Administration, Linked In groups...and there is a book by the staff of 'Entrepreneur' magazine titled "Start Your Own Business"...you can probably pick up a new or used one on Amazon...personally I think it's the best book out there for start-ups (and I used it myself to set up my management consulting firm)...so, good luck and reach out (gbyrne@nictom.com) if you need additional info...and thanks for your service!

You should look in to doing work for another contractor who already has government contracts - as a sub contractor. It is going to be difficult for you to do prime contracting because you are new. Look around for some other companies holding current contracts and reach to them, they are always looking for good qualified subs
Hi Cheryl,
There is a network of US Army Vet owned IT companies in Northern VA I'd be happy to connect you with. They do everything from govt. to international consulting and contracting. I'd be happy to broker an intro for you or your husband.
I know a bit about DDTC certs and contracts, but haven't been directly involved yet.
