How can I learn more about management consulting in the Middle East and other developing areas?

Veteran

Hello, I'm a transitioning naval officer that will start a dual Masters program in Business Administration (MBA) and Foreign Service at Georgetown University this fall. I lived and studied in Jordan would like to learn more about management consulting opportunities. I had an insightful conversation with a dual Georgetown MBA / Foreign Service alumni who interned with Deloitte Middle East and I'm hoping to find others who have consulted in the Middle East or other developing areas such as Africa or Southeast Asia.

Hi Colin,

Thank you very much for your service. I would recommend you reach out to each of the consulting firms military recruiters. From there, they will be able to direct you to colleagues in each of the different offices you are interested in. At BCG, this is how the process would work at least.

Best,
Katie

Hi Colin,

I did 3 months of consulting in India, and I'd be happy to talk to you about my experience there. I know Deloitte has been working to grow their offices in the Middle East - there's definitely opportunity if you ultimately go there!

Thank you for your service Mr. Miller. You might try a Certificate or Masters in International Affairs (Specializing in Mid-east Studies)at Georgetown/UVA/American University as you are in the DC metro area. Best wishes

Hi
You might try Booz Allen--they also have a specific veterans recruitment program I believe.
Also Accenture, KPMG, PWC, E&Y. I have not worked for these firms, but they would be good places to connect.

Message me for a private conversation if helpful.

I founded and ran a consulting and executive training firm for 30 plus years. The essential key to whatever success I had was my Law Degree. There are loads of MBA's out there but very few JD's. My degrees in Engineering, Industrial Management and grad studies in finance were fine, but what opened the door was the J.D.

The race is not for the weak or lazy.

Colin,

As you may expect there are many global consulting firms with offices in the Middle East. Many of them have their key Middle East HQ at either Dubai or Kuwait, there is a lot of information available online regarding who those firms are and who to contact. The names others have provided are great, but keep in mind there are many European and Tier 2 consulting firms that are very strong in the Middle East and Asia. Gulftalent.com is one I know others have used. I'm happy to forward your resume to a number of contacts I have in the Management Consulting area.
