James,
A fellow Vet posted that he did find a grant for SDVOSB, so I was incorrect. See below:

Dali Rivera · US Army, Staff Sergeant · 10 years served.
I found out about grant that purchases the equipment you would need for your business. The program is called VR&E (look it up in the VA.ORG search engine). It is part of the Voc Rehab or Vocational Rehabilitation Program. I have a friend who got $75,000 worth of equipment he needed for his business. It was extremely tough to get it because they are rarely done and he told me that VA Counselor had not even heard of it, nor had anyone at the regional branch done one. However, he got his paperwork and policies together and conquered.

James,

My husband and I have a SDVOSB open for 8 years and have never found grants for SDVOSB. The government has set aside contracts for us to bid on, but no grants. We did use SCORE and local government entities to help us through the initial paperwork process to get registered though; and I would advise you to do the same thing.

James, I'm not sure there are grants for disabled vets unless what the vet wants to do meets the criteria of what the grant is for (and not who is doing it.)

There are US Sm Bus Adm programs (SBA.gov) for vets and free help for starting a business is availble through SCORE (www.score.org) Not knowing what city you're in bus the SBA and SCORE have offices throughout the US.

For a grant or a SBA guaranteed loan, you'll need to have a business plan and SCORE is the place to go to work on it. Their service is free and confidential.

In almost all major cities, there are some church organizations that will help vets move from the service to civilian life. Some of them may be connected with the US Veterans Adm local offices.

James,
1)Please provide more information about the grant you are seeking. A good place to start are the "5 W's" : Who? What?: Where" When Why?

2) Enter your question into google or bing, etc. and perform your own initial research.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Grants+for+Service-Connected+Disabled+Veterans

One of the top links on this Google search brings you to a similar question asked right on this board:

3) also see: http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/vre/

3) Please report back what you learn and what you already know. This information might help other Veterans, and will give advisors and mentors a place to begin, and will show us that you have done some initial background work. Be both a Veteran protege and a Veteran Advisor and mentor. Help other Veterans.
