Is it be a good idea for Veteran to include a URL to their LinkedIn profiles (and perhaps also a resume) on their ACP AdvisorNet profile pages?
Answers
Yes, by all means include a LinkedIn profile. But recognize it's limitations and be aware of how you're going to be using it in a job search. Think of how intentional you will be in using the site to provide more details about your employment search or how "passive" it may be in your overall hunt.
Here's an interesting article on these concepts.

YES. Including your Linked In profile (and I advise including it on your resume) shows that you're tech savvy, reinforces your resume and ensures that when an employer looks for you on Linked In (and they will) that they find the RIGHT "John Smith".
BUT...
Keep in mind that this will probably also be your "first impression" to the company, so:
1 - get a NICE picture. Go to Sears, Penney's, whatever and get a nice head n' shoulders shot. If you put up something that was shot in a bar because you like the smile, all I'll see (as a potential employer) is "hey, he's in a bar".
2 - no typos or grammatical errors. Make sure everything is clean, tight and matches (and/or adds) to your resume.
3 - no embarrassing posts, pictures, etc. This is your professional page so make it look like a pro so I'll know that you're a pro.

I would suggest to add your LinkedIn URL and your resume.

It can't hurt! I'm looking for an Acquisition Account Manager at Verizon and I would certainly be willing to put information out on the Profile page and look for qualified candidates there.
