Would like to have a mentor in the Logistics | Program Management | Operations that can mentor me during the transition process?

Veteran

Alexander Garcia Alexandria , VA

I would like a mentor that can help me navigate the civilian sector where I can transfer my over 20 years of military experience in Logistics and Program Management to start a new career.

I am seeking a new career, not just a job. I want to be part of an organization where I believe in their vision but also know that I, too, can benefit the organization.

I do not want to watch the clock in a new job, but to know that I can make a difference in their organization.

Alexander, I’m willing to be a mentor for you. I’m the CEO of spgFix.com and EnableMeIot.com. I have worked almost every position in a Fortune 50 firm. If this opportunity is of interest, please feel free to email me at LowellS@EnableMeIoT.com. My time is limited, but as long as you apply effort we will continue. People in my family served.

Sincerely,

Lowell Sandoval

Hi Alexander, thanks for posting a question on ACP AdvisorNet! I'd recommend you sign up for our main mentoring program and get linked up in a one-on-one mentorship with someone to help you throughout the transition. You can sign up at the link here: https://www.acp-usa.org/about-us/program-overview

The program is open to veterans who have served at least 180 days on active duty orders since September 11th, 2001.

Once you sign up, someone on staff will reach out to get you started. After a short introductory phone call, we will begin the search for a mentor for you based on the industry you're looking to break into.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

Stephen

You did not mention your education. Logistics is a good area in which to make a career. I would suggest getting into Procurement or Contracts Administration and working your way up to a management position.

If you have "what it takes", think about Law School. That will open corporate executive level doors that you do not know exist. I went to Law School nights, when I had a demanding management full time day job, a demanding wife, 3 small kids etc,. so it is no excuse that you have a family, need to work days, etc etc. etc. But it is not easy nor inexpensive. Contact me if you have any interest.

Francis, there is unlimited opportunity in this field, exposure to all aspects such as transportation, warehousing, logistics, purchasing and Sourcing will be the foundation of that experience. They are all tied together to make up the supply chain.
