I worked in the petroleum industry for forty five years, and use LinkedIn quite a bit. It would be beneficial to have a LinkedIn account, and to join committees that are posted. You can also locate different petroleum personnel by using LinkedIn. LinkedIn can provide contacts as well as opportunities to interface with different personnel in major oil companies, drilling companies, independents. Most of these companies also have websites with job postings, and LinkedIn will post jobs available on their site.
