I am about to retire in less than 90 days. My current base has little to no information or resources on how to start a small business. I don’t want to waste time on the “trial and error” method or invest my own savings. Anyone have any solutions?

Good day, Sergeant Hayes.
I suggest that you contact the local Small Business Administration office and schedule an appointment with one of their analysts. They can share with you, all of the information you are seeking. You can find the office listing at www.sba.gov. You may want to contact the closest VBOC - Veterans Business Outreach Center. They are resource partners of the SBA, but they are veterans. You may also want to contact your local SCORE office. You can find them at www.score.org.
All of the services from these groups are free for you. You can get personalized counseling on creating a good business plan, finding financing and getting started. They are waiting for your call.
Hello Herald,
Congratulations on retiring! I noticed you said you aren't interested in "Trial and error methods". Have you considered opening your own franchise business? These are proven-successful, duplicatable business models with a built-in support network that removes a lot of the "trial and error" from business ownership. I also work with a variety of funding partners who are experts in helping people get the resources they need to start their own business. I'd be happy to schedule a conversation with you to discuss. Let me know if you're interested.

I have only 'boot-strapped' two businesses, Income tax, and Travel agency, both of which are service businesses. It takes time to get any business started, and if you start out obligated to service debt in the traditional manner that the culture advises you do, you will find out why most businesses fail. If you would like to get with me, my website is at qualitytax.com where you can find my contact information. I am outside the box, because no one would let me play in the box.
