I feel like I am getting nowhere.

I am an LPN with two years experience and a combat medic with 6. It appears to most Emergency Rooms my medic background gives me zero credit for training. If I take myself out of the work force for 18 months I can go back to school for RN because of my LPN training but you would think 4 years on the line and 2 years working Military Hospitals Emergency Room where I did everything from sutures to Advanced Cardiac Life Support I would be farther along.

Hello Bill,
I'm not in the medical arena, but -- depending on what your military career experience is -- it seems either local hospitals and/or first responder EMT units are always looking for those with nursing or other medical training. If this includes your military background, your resume should read well.
