How can I run a FED-EX or UPS ground route service?

Veteran

Jim Malonzo Jacksonville , FL

This business opportunity is my priority right now. I have made some research online and I am very interested in running this type of business. I would prefer to have routes in Jacksonville, Florida. Any advice or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

As a Veteran and sole proprietor, you should qualify for the Direct Access Program which will give you preference when they are contracting. The email contact information is on the website along with some other info you may need. http://www.va.gov/osdbu/outreach/dap/index.asp

Hope that helps!

Hello Jim,

FedEx routes are for the most part independently owned, offering growth opportunity for you, the entrepreneur. FEDEX is always seeking interested owner/operators. Take a look at: http://www.fedex.com/us/indp/independentcontractors.html.

Now this a great time for veterans seeking opportunities with UPS. You should look for opportunities online. UPS is seeking to hire 93,000 seasonal employees, UPS promotes most of its full time drivers from within. UPS is seeking to hire 50,000 veterans.

To tag on to what Harry has said, FedEx Ground is always looking for good business people to run their routes. You just need to call the local station in the city you are looking at. They have recruiters that can give you all the information you need to investigate the opportunity.
It's a great company to work for!

Hi Jim,

I think someone else already clarified this, but UPS does not sub-contract their routes the way Fedex does. However, our drivers receive excellent pay and benefits in addition to many opportunities for career advancement. UPS is also a very veteran-friendly company.
You can search for career opportunities in your area at www.upsjobs.com. Good luck!

Paul,
Unfortunately due to my military disability I can not perform such strenuous duty, this is why I am pursing higher education in Logistics to thrive in small business. Is it okay to let my veteran colleagues know about the tremendous need of UPS for seasonal and part time drivers? How long are you going to be in town?
Sincerely,
Jim
