About Tim
I've been in IT for well over 14 years now. I've seen and experienced enough changes where I can see things from high altitude. ("The more things change, the more they stay the same," is the operative phrase here.) My career has taken me halfway around the globe to the harsh desert riding camels, Humvees, and rickety Indian pickup trucks while trying not to commit horrible fashion faux pas with digital camo; to the corn-fed and flat, flat, flat, Midwest suffering in the cold; and to the nation's captial, where I moonlight as non-singing opera star wearing ill-fitting shoes.
Though I work in a technical field and have had more than enough hands-on experience with a multitude of hardware and software, my efforts always bring me back to project/program management, infrastructure, risk management, and strategy -- the last being the bright red bow that ties them all together. All this and more came from my six years on active duty with the US Army, where I proudly served my country on two deployments to Iraq. Yes, that makes me a veteran (proud one), and I consider myself very fortunate to have worked with some incredibly competent, dedicated, resilient, and irreverent people. Ditto for my time with the US Department of Defense (DoD).
The thing about being in the Army is that you learn on the fly and don't shy away from asking for help when you need it, especially when you hear "Hey, you" and then you're leading the pack in mission critical endeavors. Some call it a "shake and bake," but I call it "training for life" and "for work."
