I am in school working on my certified financial planner (CFP) credential. I'd also been working in a job that was totally unrelated to financial planning (currently laid off). Based on my style of learning, it would be great if I could get into the financial planning space so that I can get practical experience.
Any experienced planners out there who can provide some guidance? I would be most appreciative. Thank you.

Jaqueline - I am not working in this space directly, but I am working with financial professionals who do planning - so here's my view from the slightly outside.
Many of the independent firms do offer paid internships. It's a great way to network, learn and earn, and figure out how this might work for you. Most of them are not full time, and with the pandemic, highly negotiable on hours you might give them.
There is a lot of communication, marketing, and knowledge based work that you can tap into here. Regulations and relief from CARES Act, PPP Loans, and individual relief continue to evolve over time; both business owners and individuals are seeking advice in those areas.
