I am struggling to stay patient in the Networking In process. I am researching a company called Gravitytank that I'm very excited to reach out to. I started the long and ambiguous trek to speak to an employee, who is a 2nd Degree connection on LinkedIn. Having done extensive research about the firm and their work, I am anxious to get my app in for two different open positions that have been open since the end of February. I am confident in my cover letter, resume, interviewing skill and qualifications, so I am tempted to forge ahead rather than waiting for a connection that may or may not be made or useful. What do you think about this? Is this a no-brainer - always allowing time for networking in? Or do you have an alternate opinion about going straight at it after properly preparing?
Thanks!
Paul

Hey Paul,
Before I started my business I applied to several places as a hedge. I would advise against sending a resume through the traditional channels.
What has worked really and created opportunities in the past for me:
• Reach directly out to the CEO/CTO/CMO (choose one depending on company size and your ideal job preference) with InMail or an email. Introduce yourself, ask what is challenging, and how could you help the company right now. Either deliver solutions to their problem or do the work they need done. Repeat until you land the position you want.
• Find connections to introduce you personally to the person who will be reviewing resumes, and the person who will be approving the hiring.
If you want help strategizing this or more details, give me a shout.
Best,

Paul,
Of course. Give me a shout here, chadjgrills@gmail.com
or text 301-660-0577 is the best way to reach me.
I've used this approach to connect with CEO's, VC's, Authors I want to talk to, it works great.

Paul I'm a job seeker like your self and I would go ahead and don't stand around waiting. Seem like you've done the research and have all your ducks in a row, go ahead, preparation is the key. Seems like you;re ready!
Paul,
It looks like you have received good advice. I encourage you to also work on your one-minute "elevator pitch". see https://www.google.com/search?q=elevator+pitch
Roger - I appreciate the advice and encouragement. Good luck on your hunt. Thank you.
Chad - This approach has come up a few times now and it's intriguing. It's counter intuitive that I could actually engage the c-level in my approach. I'll be contacting you directly to hear more about it. Thanks a lot!
