I am looking to pursue a cyber security career in the financial services sector. I have a Masters in IT Management, several certifications, and ten plus years of industry and military reserve experience. Any advice, insight, and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Bryan,
Deloitte is constantly hiring in this space, and puts an emphasis on recruiting veterans. We are the number 1 cybersecurity consulting firm for the past 6 years, ranked by Gartner, and are growing rapidly.
I have been working for financial services clients almost exclusively for the past 4 years in the application security space and other security disciplines. Feel free to send me a message if you're interested in hearing more about our firm.
Best,
Steve
Thank you for your service. My IT organization regularly has openings in IT security and the financial services sector. If you send me your email address I can route some of the job postings your way.
Bryan,
There are always openings in the financial services industry for cyber security folks. There are literally not enough trained folks to fill the positions. Two things you need to do - 1) Learn about some of the products in use - Splunk (www.splunk.com) being a great place to start. and 2) Join your local cyber security community and network at their local events. Join and attend events by ISACA, SANs, ISSA and InfraGuard. The folks who attend those events will know where the opening are and who to talk to.
Good Luck!

Bryan,
If you don't get any offers there, you can look to the power industry. Nuclear plants in particular, with the NRC rules on Cyber Security, are in urgent and continuing need of Cyber professionals like yourself.
It's the same work, and in a regulated environment. The pay is good, and there is a lot less of the "IT Tech support" feel that you might otherwise get in the Financial services field.
Please consider this option. If you do a search on any of the job services, you'll find the power plant and nuclear plants are actively seeking people with your qualifications.
Best wishes,
George Wilhelmsen
