I currently reside in California and I do have my masters in psychology with emphasis in Crisis Management and Response. Here is a brief description of the degree "study psychological theories and learn conflict management and negotiation skills as you prepare to work with trauma and disaster victims. Demand for professionals trained in this relatively new discipline is anticipated to be high, as evidenced by the number of job openings in crisis management and emergency planning".
I was hoping if anyone as an idea of where or what area I should be searching in. Thanks in advance for your time.

Shawn,
Thank you for your service.
To offer a different perspective - you may also want to explore PR or Community Relations at large corporations. There are many companies who are now dedicating more resources to philanthropic efforts, including emergency relief, that extend well beyond their immediate geography.
These teams would certainly benefit from someone with your training.
Best,
Ramesh
Shawn: Notwithstanding positions in your field of interest that may be found in municipalities, counties, gov't agencies, etc., you may also want to explore similar positions found within corporations, or with specialized organizations that serve corporations. Companies with large campuses, multiple buildings and many people focus a great deal of energy and resources on the safety, security and management of same, especially in a time of crisis. There are also many companies that provide crisis planning for other organizations, including school districts. Another corporate avenue for you to explore would be in the realm of corporate benefits such as Employee Assistance Programs. Again, larger companies often provide these Programs as a first step for employees in finding help with problems or crises in their lives. It may not be exactly what you envision but it could provide some good related experience in your field. I would do a 10, 20, etc. mile radius search of corporate facilities in your area, conduct some online research and contact Human Resources for more information. Don't rule out corporate employment in your field of interest! Keep all options open!
Thank you Drew for responding back to me I will definitely check the site out.
Shawn: The San Diego Dep't of Emergency Services (http://www.sandiegocounty.gov/oes/) might be a good place to start. I have a cousin who works in a similar role elsewhere in CA, and works with that large municipality's corresponding dep't; they can probably at least point you in the right direction to other agencies or NGOs.
Best of luck.
