Looking for professional resume reviewer to help me with my resume for consulting

Veteran

Benjamin Orga Holtsville , NY

I am transitioning out of the Marine Corps after 9 years this summer. I am applying to MBA programs for the fall, but I am also keeping the option of internships or jobs open for consideration as I think that gaining a year of experience in the business world will compliment an MBA. At any rate, I would appreciate if someone would help review my resume, and give me tips on how to tailor it towards consulting jobs.

Some background info: I am an enlisted Marine, completing a degree from University of Maryland, University College this May.

Benjamin,
Thank You for your service. A significant part of my background includes consulting. I agree with Ray that consulting is very broad, ranging from software development to assisting clients with strategic plans.

I'd welcome the opportunity to review your resume. I'd also like to have a conversation - I find that very useful information that belongs on the resume comes out in these conversations. Shouldn't take more than an hour.

My e-mail is: connectioncliff@gmail.com

Regards,
Cliff

Sergeant Orga,

I would be honored to assist you by reviewing your resume and providing feedback.

One suggestion I have that assisted me is to take a look at the ACE Guide and look up your different MOS/Billets, MCI's and resident Corporals & Sergeants courses. This can give you a listing of responsibilities that you may want to incorporate into your resume.

Consulting is a very broad target for a resume. Identify the target companies & fields you want to transition to and research their documents to assimilate their "language" and key words into your vernacular and resume. You will need to speak & write same as them if you want to be hired by them.

Hope this helps. If I may be of any other assistance please look me up on LinkedIn.

Benjamin, thank you for your service. My son is also a Sgt in the Marine Corps with nine years of service, so you two must have enlisted about the same time.

Regarding your resume, I would be happy to help. You need to communicate how your experience and knowledge will help a potential client. What sort of consulting are you thinking about.
I agree that a year or two experience in the business world will be a big asset in your MBA education. You may be able to get your new employer to pay for your MBA, after you've been there for a year or two. Many companies will give time off to attend classes and pay for the education, if they see potential in you.

Hi Benjamin

I would be happy to help! When marketing yourself as a consultant, its imperative that your resume emphasizes how your advice, personal contributions or oversight, has promoted the objectives of your employer or clientele. Consultation services rely heavily on professional networking and proper marketing, so its important to identify and then establish several routes on how to market yourself either by contract or to potential employers. If you need assistance or a third set of eyes/ hands on tailoring to polish your resume please contact me msamen83@gmail.com my services for your service! THANK YOU
