Hi Je(Jay) - I would be happy to help. Please reach out me at nicholas.fischer@morganstanley.com so that we can set up a time to speak
The first things I try to advise transitioning commissioned officers, who I have been helping place in the Aerospace and Defense industry for about 16 years as a side thing, is that:
1) There is no such thing as "generic business experience" unless you're willing to start at the basic entry level like a new college graduate. If you want to compete with every new business school and new MBA graduate, good luck - but I recommend you take advantage of what you have that most of them don't - industry experience. That leads to my second item...
2) Don't shy away from your specific technical and management experience - use it or translate it! There are hundreds of business development & marketing positions within my industry that specifically want a mid-level manager who understands what the Army is doing and would love to do a clearance transfer rather than a new clearance initiation.
3) If you're involved in any procurement of items from the private sector, I recommend stepping back from being on any source selection boards, as there is a mandatory freeze period for most commissioned officers. You can still be part of contract administration, program management, etc., but it's tie to focus on the next position.
I recommend checking on Indeed.com and then diving directly into targeted defense companies with Army programs in areas you'd like to live. I know L3Harris, my current employer, has some key Army programs and is looking to market them for more. LEt me know if I can help you with a referral.
Good Luck!
