Hi there, my name is Hugh and I am a current first-year student pursuing an MBA at the Haas School of Business. I am a former Army Officer with six years in service and am interested in transitioning to work for an organization like IBM's GBS. What would be the best ways for me to pursue working for IBM?

Hi Hugh,
After 8 years of Army service I went to Duke for my MBA before joining IBM's Enterprise Strategy group (within GBS). I would recommend you check Haas' job board as well as the internal IBM site. If you would like to talk more details, feel free to send me a message on LinkedIn and we can talk more. Hope that helps!
Hugh,
I was in your shoes not too long ago. I just graduated college in 2019, and this is my first year full-time with IBM. Something that helped me get a full-time offer from IBM was getting multiple internships with IBM and other companies. You seem to have great experience already, so I would begin focusing on getting internships surrounding the role you want to land here. Based on the past, IBM starts interviewing for internships/full-time roles in early fall for the following summer. For example, IBM will begin interviewing for 2022 summer internships/full-time offers in the fall of 2021. Another great benefit to internships is you will be able to gauge whether or not you fit in with the culture of the company. I hope this was helpful Hugh, feel free to reach out with any further questions!
Hello Hugh,
I’d suggested looking at positions on https://careers.ibm.com/
We have a large US Federal Practice if your interest remain in Defense & Intelligence otherwise we support many other industries through our consulting capabilities
Hugh - in addition to the recommendations from the others, find some of your school alum that are at IBM and ask them for introductions to people they know working in GBS. That will get you a discussion to learn more about the group and validate your interest & fit.
You're on the right path. Many years ago I decided to make the switch from the industry I was in to a consulting career. Getting an MBA was the stepping stone that brought me into IBM. I'm sure it will open doors for you as well.
Hugh -
Thanks for your service and congratulations on your academic pursuits/accomplishments.
IBM posts all new positions and job opportunities at https://www.ibm.com/employment. Once you have your CV loaded into the portal you can apply for any of the 1000's of domestic and international postings, and there are numerous filters to help you find exactly what you are looking for. I would suggest you include the keyword "Summit" in your searches; Summit is IBM's world-class talent development program and is a great way to get into IBM. Additionally, there are likely IBM-ers in your local are or (even better) Haas alums already working at IBM that may be able to assist. Let me know if I can assist further, and good luck!
Hello Hugh,
I would go out to the IBM site for veterans and type in some roles that you might be interested in. I've posted the link below. In that link, you should also be able to apply for jobs that fit your interests and skill set.
All the best to you,
