It doesn’t necessarily need to be in project management. It can be in construction management, project coordinator, project foreman. I have large amount of knowledge in the construction side, working in construction early in life, as well as being reclassified as a carpentry/masonry specialist in the Army and built home in third world countries.

Hi David! Thank you for your question. In order to set yourself apart in the Project Management industry, you might want to think about getting a PMP! That way, you can perhaps bypass an internship altogether, and get a job as a project manager.

Hello Emilia, for your information on how I may get around an internship in project management. But don’t I have to be in a position as a project manager for at least 2000 hrs and get a recommendation letter from the employer to take the PMP certification? At least that was what I was under the impression I had to fulfill in order to take the exam. If that is not the case then I will hit my PMBOK really hard and study well to pass my exam.
