Resume/Linkedin/Elevator Pitch Help

Veteran

jared townsel Antelope , CA

I am a 10 year Army intelligence veteran that just returned from China. I have an MA in China studies and an MA in international affairs. I have been trying to find a position as a business analyst for nearly a month now to no avail. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take a look at my resume, Linkedin profile or hear my elevator pitch. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your help and suggestions along the way. Today I received an offer for employment that I am going to take. I think a mixture of all of the advice I received and encouraging words got me to the place I needed to be.

Also, I was able to get this opportunity through the Syracuse University Veteran's Technology Program so please spread the word to others that may be interested. http://vets.syr.edu

Thanks again to everyone and all the best!

Jared,

Are you set on being a business analyst? If you're open:

Almost any tech company that sells in China would hire you immediately. Any company that services government accounts would be looking to hire you: Booz Allen, etc. They will find/create a place for you with that experience.

Jared,

Just sent you a message in response to yours. Sounds good, and Tom and Carolyn have some good advice as well.

Lockheed would definitely be a great place to apply.

Jared...are you willing to relocate? If you have not done so...submit your resume to Lockheed Martin. If you held any clearances/accesses...include them on your resume if you have included already. I apologize - I can not view your resume on Linked In...current accesses and social media - tough mix! :)
Looking forward to your posted elevator speech!

Hi Tom,
I received from feedback on my elevator speech and am revising it right now but I will post on here soon. Also, thanks for the resume link.

Hello Chad,
I suppose I am dead set on being a business analyst and that has been some of my feedback that I need to focus a bit more. As for China I had been there for the last year and spent nearly 3 months trying to find a position with tech companies without any response. I am now back in the US because my visa there expired. I am also applied to a few positions at Booz Allen but have yet to hear back.

Thank you both for your comments and advice, I will update this post soon.

All the best,
Jared
