Advice with federal resume
Answers
Hello Sterlin,
That is a fantastic question. Federal resumes are both similar and very different from private sector resumes. While both want keywords and listed duties relevant to the position you are applying for, a federal resume has much more detail to it. Private-sector resumes are typically only one page. Federal resumes should be very detailed, describing all your duties and responsibilities. Adding quantitative data to a federal resume is highly encouraged as well. I have seen Federal resumes that are three to nine pages long. That being said, USA jobs has given a guideline of resume writing https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/
Also, here is a great article from Military.com that explains the differences https://www.military.com/veteran-jobs/career-advice/resume-writing/difference-between-private-industry-and-federal-resumes.html Hopefully, this helps you out. I have worked for both the federal government and the private sector and the process can be a little confusing. If you need any more information, feel free to ask, I will help you the best I can.
