I am seeking a new opportunity ideally in the leadership/talent development field. My job search is frustrating. I'm aware that the best jobs are most often not advertised but instead found through networking, most often with a retained recruiter.

Hi Tom,
Could you provide some specifics on what type of positions you are seeking? I would suggest taking advantage of the various networking applications like LinkedIn. It's also good to try and do some networking to get the inside scoop on what positions companies are looking to hire. Take advantage of the Internet and various websites to get updated information now new available positions.
Hi Tom,
Is there anything in particular you are finding frustrating? Also, have you checked out the jobs we have posted on ACP here today under the jobs tab? Michael is right about leveraging your military network to help find out about what is out there. But if you are seeking any particular advice on resumes or interviews, I'm happy to help with both.
Best,
Andrea
Tom,
Great question, I would suggest the most important thing you can do is actively engage your network and build out a network in the industry you are wanting employment. I would assume you know a lot of people especially from 30 years of military background. I would suggest engage that network first and explore options in industry where you have an interest. LinkedIn is going to be a great place to start as well. Make sure you have a strong profile that highlights who you are, your capabilities, and industry you want to target. Join groups and follow companies that you are interested in. Be active in the group discussions, and let people know you are actively searching for work in that industry.
Mike
