I am interested in entering the renewable energy industry, specifically as a project manager. Does anyone have advice on how to break into the industry and how to make military experience relevant? Thanks!
Answers
Hello Craig,
Two points for consideration please :
1. When I Google : How many solar panel manufacturers are there in the us? I see the following result: There are 14 US-based companies manufacturing solar panels at present. Also - in Wikipedia: List of photovoltaics companies.
Try exploring what's on line to give you some ideas - go directly to the company web site / check for openings in each company.
Also check for solar re-sellers / construction firms (even small ones ) - you have to start somewhere.
2. Check out the Project Management Institute and get a PMI certification - it will help open doors for any industry, including renewable energy. Agile project management is all the rage now - so make that a focus item.
If you have any questions please reach out anytime. Good luck to you .
