Is there a way I legitimately make a living working from home? After so many years away from my family I kind of want to work from home.

Being a business owner is certainly one way, especially with dropshipping. But, consider writing a book if that piques your interest. That is certainly a passive income.
Hi Tony,
I am a small business owner that works from home. Like you, I wanted to be available for my kids and I also needed flexibility as a military spouse. I would be happy to talk to you about different business options that are available to you if you not only want to work from home, but also be your own boss! (And no, I'm not talking about selling Tupperware.) Please feel free to book a call on my calendar to discuss at nquartey.youcanbook.me.
Best regards,
Nancy
Hi, Tony!
One of the best ways to work from home (or semi-from home, with a home office), is to offer solutions to a problem.
For example, I contract with investors, who will lend to home owners funds, based on what the home appraises for. This is called Equity Sharing; an alternative to home equity loans or lines of credit, in that there's no monthly fees nor interest. These investors are betting that a home will appreciate in value, so that when the owners finally sell, they will get a good ROI.
For the home owners, they get money that they don't have to pay monthly fees nor interest on, which can go to pay off a good amount of their home mortgage or other debts, or even to invest (ie, a business).
Always glad to share ideas with fellow vets. Feel free to PM me!
Hello Tony,
I have been a consultant for many years and treasure the flexibility it allows me to spend time with my family as well as time to support community endeavors.
To be successful in a home-based business, I would highly recommend you 1st determine what you're most passionate about and then align your home office vocation to that passion.
An online tool that has been most beneficial for me is the free Value Assessment crafted by Dr. John DeMartini. The process involves you answering 13 questions that serve to provide you with a "score" of your top 3 values. Next step is to use this information as a foundation to guide you into determining the best use of your skills and resources.
Also, please be aware that you can pursue more than one home-based business. For instance, along with financial consulting, I have a healthy living direct sales business. Basically, as long as they your business ventures align with your value system, you will remain on-track.

Hello Tony,
I've worked from home for many years. I do real estate deal negotiation and consulting, mostly leasing work for retail stores.
My ability to work at home was an offshoot of what I did in organizational life, in my case a corporate environment. In yours, I assume it would be an offshoot of your military experience and background -- unless you've had other work experience that could translate to working at home.
And that's the key: do your skills, talents, experience translate well to an employer who's willing to have you work remotely? The good news: this is becoming more and more common, as Internet speed/use increases, video-conferencing is more prevalent, and companies seek to reduce office expense.
So, I'm thinking you'd need to decide first whether or not you want to start your own business from home, or work for an employer from your home office.
Either way, there are definitely ways you can make a living from home. I've been doing it for 22 years.
Remember, though: what's going on your home during your work time can be a distraction. In my case, no kids, no grandkids, and my wife travels for a living.
Happy to talk or e-mail further: via this website, or jeremy@theserwercompany.com.
And good luck!
