I heard when I came in that you could get out up to 6 months early with school op, but went to our S1 today and was informed that was no longer the case. Can anyone shed some light on this? My current ETS is FEB 2020, and I've already been accepted for the Fall semester beginning AUG 2019.

Hi Blitz,
Great question! Yes, last I checked about a year ago, the policy with having one's Expiration Term of Service (ETS) date moved to the left, up to six months when a service member gains admittance to an institution of higher learning, was their longstanding policy. Seeing that I am no longer working with service members and veterans in an institution of higher learning, I am unaware if this policy has changed.
I suggest calling the VA Education Hotline at 1-888-552-4551 - they'll be able to pull up your account and review your service details/contract (you'll need to provide them with your file/social security number) in guiding you with precise information.
Bear in mind every institution of higher learning has an add/drop deadline - to be safe I suggest gaining clarification on this matter from the VA/DoD before the semester begins. Failure to do so may result in financial complications when it comes to tuition/fees sticking.
Feel free to message me privately with any questions.
Thank you for your service.
Best,
Rob
