Jamell-

You might also look companies like Verizon, Southwest Airlines and ATT. Both Southwest and Verizon have strong initiatives right now to hire veterans and may have something. ATT is also good at hiring veterans. It takes a lot of time and patience to hit the large corporations and it may take you into areas you haven't thought of but every large company has a large finance/accounting division. Hope this helps!

Thanks Bob! I appreciate your insight and feedback. As far as what area I am interested in the business sector, it varies. While I'm interested in accounting and finance (Financial or Business Analyst), I am also interested in getting in a management position for a non-profit organization. The barriers are many trying to break into the accounting and finance sectors. While I have a significant amount of experience in the non-profit sector (Social Work), the jobs are not there. Not sure if my resume is selling me in the right way.

Jamell. I'd be happy to review your resume and provide some guidance. I have been in positions to hire people for more than 25 years and have provided mentoring support for a number of people within my company.

I would suggest you think about the things that you believe interest you, and things you are really good at doing.

For instance, with your military background I'll assume you're used to working on teams. Is that an area you would like to continue in... or would you like to work independently, with limited team interaction?

What business skills did you learn in the military? Think about it... I guarantee you can draw some comparison to the business world. What excites you?... what can you see yourself doing? When you received your MBA (by the way congratulations) you may have had a career in mind... what was it?

The resume is the starting point for getting the door inched open, so if you're comfortable with providing it to me, I will be happy to review and provide comments on how I would "size you up" as a candidate.
