Jamell,
The advice so far is fantastic. I looked at your LinkedIn profile and it's in great shape. If you want to advance your on-line presence, I'd get the book "How to Find a Job on LinkedIn..." by Brad and Debra Schepp (get the 2nd edition). To help with a resume you may want to seek out county or state labor department's employment office that specializes in professionals. They will have a resume polishing service that will help focus your efforts.
Thank you for you insight! I big interest of my in the financial industry. While I worked for Nationwide Financial in the Brokerage Dept (contract position), it was dealing with Life Insurance. Since contract ended, I have been unable to get my foot in the door at a financial organization. Areas of interest are Finance, accounting and auditing. Thanks again. I can send my resume to you to show how it reflects the area I am interested in.
I review a lot of resumes, and trust me, the preparation you do will matter at some point. A poorly prepared resume will doom you from the start, while a crisp, professional resume will allow you to at least move into the initial stages of the screening and interviewing process. I'd be willing to review your resume and offer some feedback. Thanks for your service.
Hi, I am little old-fashioned. A good one page resume with crisp and clear message of your skills and knowledge should be fine. Most companys scan you paper copy and hence be sensitive to font size etc. I heard that some companys recommend you send a video clip (in most cases to avoid face to face interview) which you may consider doing. I remember CNN used to provide 30 sec to pitch your skills and there may be similar mediums (YouTube for example) you can take advantage. I will be happy to review and make recommendations if you send your resume to me (logan.sankaran@hp.com). Good-luck.
