Does anyone have any job connections in Washington state?

Veteran

Dayron Alvarez Passaic , NJ

I want to relocate to Washington state and I have been applying everywhere but no luck. I am a recent graduate with double majors of finance and economics. I have finance internship experience also. Someone please help. I would love to land a job that also pays relocation assistance.

Dayron-

I live in Washington state and may be able to assist. Send me a message with your resume and we can follow up with a phone call to review.

Dayron, first let me thank you for your service. I lack direct knowledge of Washington state opportunities but noticed that Norman DeLisle's posting on this website, "What do I put in an email?" refers to a Microsoft "University Recruiting Team" currently recruiting "student veterans" of his school. Perhaps Montclair State has received a similar contact from Microsoft to which you could respond, or you could contact Microsoft directly.
Best wishes for success, Bill Nobles

I would try to work through some veteran groups in Seattle area. There you might find some personal contacts that could really help get you into a good job. There are lots of job seekers in WA so you need some kind of personal touch to work your resume to someone's desk.

Hey Dayron,

Don't give up! It is good to know what you want...keep after it. My advice would be to further qualify WHAT you want to do as well as where you want to live. It sounds counterintuitive, but the more specific you are in your job search, the more successfull you will be. As I left the Navy I too wanted to relocate to a specific place and took took a shotgun approach to getting there. It wasn't until I really zeroed in on exactly what I wanted that I began to find success. Find what you want, find potential employers, research and network all you can with those SPECIFIC employers for SPECIFIC roles. Get connected in Linked-In, it will help immensely.

You might consider moving without relocation assistance. I know it is tough and would be a leap of faith, but nothing beats being there locally and working the scene in person.

Good luck!

Hello Margot,

I have applied countless amount of times to liberty mutual, Boeing, Microsoft, amazon and other companies in Washington but no one has contacted me back. It is very surprising to me that I have not received a call back because I am a veteran and I have my bachelors in finance and economics and I have a 3.2 gpa.

Hi Drayton - There are a lot of great companies in WA St. My Daughter just graduated from school there and relocated to Seattle - it is not easy to find a job, workers suggested-Bill and Melinda Gates Fundation. Also, Amazon has a huge campus in Seattle, Boeing is there, as is Starbucks Corporate - these are all great companies.

You may also want to check out Microsoft in Redmond and Bellevue. Costco cort offices are in WA St also - this is a great place to live. Good luck!
