Recently Accenture veterans recruiters reached out to me as I near my military retirement and have been a help in translating what my skills attained in the military as well as my civilian/ military education translates to in terms of their job openings and where I'd be most able to be a proper fit in their company. Does Deloitte offer the same advice or have recruiters that aid in a similar way?
The reason I am asking is that after looking at Atlanta area openings, some are so vague that where I possibly feel I'd be a good match I am still left wondering. Especially in terms of what Deloitte prefers.

A good thing to remember when preparing your resume for future job opportunities is to focus on translating your military experience to align with related civilian careers, avoid military jargon and terminology in your resume. With help from Accenture, I assume the resume help you have received has accomplished this task. What it more sounds like is that you would like/need more detail on the specific job postings and the areas that you would fit within Deloitte. Deloitte has posted example job descriptions on AdvisorNet for you to take a look at and see if it helps give some answers. Should you have any further questions, Deloitte recruiters are very helpful in finding a place for qualified candidates.
Hi Nathan,
I echo what everyone has said. I don't know many military terms but wanted to give an example of what has been mentioned before about the terminology. For instance, if someone was a fundraiser for a non-profit and wanted to tailor their resume for something in the consulting sector, instead of saying "fundraising" they would emphasize something more along the lines of "proposal development" or "developed and managed relationships" etc. Hope this helps with your translation ask!

Hi Nathan,
I agree with Maggie and Subrata's responses, and just wanted to offer an explanation of the "vagueness" in the job postings. Often, Deloitte hires for a particular level of experience in an area, but this level of experience will be applied to a wide range of projects in various sectors (health, defense, civilian, etc.) and the descriptions are kept broad to help account of all of the possible different sectors you may find yourself working in. This can be based on a combination of your experience, the firm's need for your experience on a project, and your interest in a particular sector. We do have recruiters who can help you and I would recommend following Subrata's advice on that piece.
Best,
Andrea
Hi,
Deloitte also holds regular recruiting events for veterans. There are some job postings here on AdvisorNet too (https://acp-advisornet.org/job-openings). You can contact Sasha Dunwody (sdunwody@deloitte.com) for more information.
