Jose-
I am retired after a 40 year career in industry where I hired over 100 people. Now I am helping veterans like yourself by helping with their resumes. If you would e-mail me your resume in Word to (drjamesfwatson@gmail.com) I would be happy to comment on it.

Jose,
Thank you for your service. If you are still looking for someone to provide feedback on your resume, please feel free to forward. I see lots of qualified individuals have already offered to help, I come from a related industry and am currently a manager doing frequent hiring and interviews. Please feel free to reach out if interested.
All the best,
Richard
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all who responded to my inquiry, especially during this busy time of the year. Currently I am on deployment and do not return stateside until February, so having this resource in this critical period in my life is a true blessing. I have a large family back home and would like nothing more than to be able to provide for them just as I have been. I will be forwarding my resume for review. I'm sure content and format can be improved since I have not had to write a resume in almost 20 years. I will provide additional information if required. Thank you. Happy Holidays.

Congratulations on your forthcoming retirement and thank you for your service. As the others have promised, if you send me a copy of your resume, I will be only to glad to offer you a critique. Because the jobs that get filled most often follow a personal contact with the hiring person, I will also be glad to offer a 30 second presentation you should use for making that all-important first impression. I also suggest that you treat your job hunt as you would a full-time job. Plan regular hours five days per week looking for a job. During this time you plan your job-getting strategy, build a support network, and hit the pavement contacting hiring personnel whenever and wherever possible.
Jose - Congrats on your Navy career! If you send me your resume I will provide some comments and send it back - and also be glad to talk to you on the phone.
I would focus on the last 3-5 years and work to tell stories around specific initiatives you worked on. How you helped get to positive outcomes...This was the challenge, this was my approach, this was the result. That is what companies are going to look for....Can I give this person a complex task which he/she will collaborate on with others and get to a desired result...in a reasonable time period. If your resume can paint that picture with a few examples - then it will stand out. I would lead with those "key accomplishments" right up front.
You have 6 months until you retire - grab a new complex problem in your command in Jan (from your CO or Command Master Chief) and work that as your "Capstone" project for your retirement...let that be your first story you tell future employers!
