Good afternoon,
My name is Raymond Dishen. I am a Marine Corps vet, with a tour of duty in 2007. I have a pretty vast professional background to include: logistics, marketing, business development, paralegal, and supply chain. My degree is in advertising, and I'm currently pursuing my MBA.
I'll keep this short as to not take up too much of anyone's time. I'd be happy to explain in detail, or to have a conversation if anyone knows of anything in the area.
Thank you,
Ray Dishen

Dear Raymond,
The Federal government has a program called Pathways that allows you to work part-time while going to school part-time. There is currently a job announcement that might be of interest to you but it is only open until December 2, so you would have to act fast. You can view the details at https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/422628600.
Should you decide on working full-time and continuing your studies on the nights and weekends, there is a wide variety of Federal open job announcements in the Austin area. To view them, go to www.usajobs.gov > click on Advanced Search > click on Location and type- then select Austin, TX > scroll to the bottom and select "Yes - I fall into one of these categories . . ." and click Search.
While on usajobs.gov, you can create an account, save your Search criteria, and receive daily email updates for new job announcements.
Good luck with your studies and your job search. And thank you for your service!
Sincerely,
Bob Jurasek
Hi Raymond -- all the advice so far is on target. If you're new to town, you can also subscribe to some meet-up groups for professional development and as a way to network socially. There is so much going on in Austin, with the new hospital on the way at UT, the grown in tech firms, and our "third coast" activity. Be sure to sit down ASAP with the career office where you're getting that MBA and map out a plan. Thank you for your service and good luck! - Mary
Hello Raymond and good luck on the MBA.
A couple thoughts;
join a few of the local Austin Linked In groups, depending on what kind of company and position you are looking for try to identify people within the group to set up informational interviews with.
Do the same with you College alumni groups. Especially with the college you are getting your MBA through. Alumni tend to be open to networking and helping their peers where they can.
Another thought is to look at "meet up" and "event brite" to find local networking events to attend when you have time.
If you like please connect with me on LI.
thanks and if I can be of additional help I will
Mike
Raymond,
I would be glad to connect and help out. There are a lot of Vets in the Austin area to help you build out your network. Congrats on working toward your MBA!
One idea is to pitch an MBA project at a local company as an internship...6 weeks...let me tackle a business problem and demonstrate what I can do...will help you complete your MBA and give you a really compelling story to tell at future interviews. Of course if you make an impact on the "challenge" you might get hired on the spot.

Jamie
Hi Raymond,
Please be advised that you can use the community feature on this page to help you out. You can search for Advisors by area and industry and ask them what the best approaches are for seeking employment in Austin would be. They may also be able to assist with your résumé and interviewing skills and you can reach out to as many people as you can find.
I hope that this is helpful,
Josh
