Daniel, thanks for your service. With a Masters in Homeland Security, the first careers that come to mind are government service - local/state/federal law enforcement but research the private industry market, too. Think "critical infrastructure" like oil and gas, nuclear power, railroads, even major retailers that must have their supply chain and logistics run smoothly. Any disruption threatens that efficiency. One prominent group is ASIS (asisonline.org) and from there you will find many user groups that could help you narrow your focus. /dcb
Find a rural county...look for an Emergency Corrdinator job....go get your Tech. class ham radio license....you will be dealing with many hams as communications volunteers....after a few years in " a small pond" go get a job in a major metro. Current EC's are in their 40's....you may have to wait till EC's slots open up.
There are certainly many opportunities in Federal government. I've also worked closely with local and regional emergency managers, working in that capacity for a city or state is also a possibility. Security management for a large company or, more likely these days, a security outsourcing company, if you aren't interested in government. The thing about getting in to a large company is that it opens the possibility of learning the business and possibly posting for something that interests you.
Hi Daniel - providing more information in your post would net you better answers.
What University are you attending ? What is your grade point average ? Does your school have placement programs ? Please comment on why you chose this particular field of interest (most people choose a course of study based on the outcome of that program : for example people who want to be Veterinarians usually go to school to learn that trade; what led you to choose to study Homeland security ?)
