Are you interested in welding/pipe fitting? This is a very good occupation and there is a program locally here with the union called "Helmets to Hard hats". If you are interested in relocating to the Chicago area, please write back.
I think your best to get employment quickly as possible is to start with a temp company because you can get your foot in the door very quickly. They also have temp to hire positions in the restaurant industry if you start your search now. There plenty of jobs out here to go around but if your just looking for a job for income then it definitely would be temp job then you can work your way back into the profession that you want without a lot of stress weighting you down. The next step you can try is CareerBuilder, Craigslist, Monster, Zip recruiter, and Indeed which have many jobs for you to consider.
I can help you by giving you this advice: focus on what other people need and are willing to pay someone to do rather on what you need. People give to charity to help the needy: they hire to fill their own needs.
I am willing to help send me your resume, robert.castillo@ngc.com
You have to answer the following:
Where do you want to live?
What do you want to do?
Are you willing to go back to school if you do not have a degree?
Calvin,
According to Salary.com, a restaurant manager with ten years experience will make an average of $44,000 in Little Rock, AR. If you have twenty years experience, you could make 60k. How is it you intend to make 68k ?
What other career fields have you considered?

Hi Calvin,
It is unclear what you are struggling with. I looked on Indeed and that site shows 994 restaurant jobs advertised in LR, AR. Monster.com has many more.
Food service is a good stepping stone to a better career in another industry. Other than preparing food, what are your long term interests for a career ? Do you like auto mechanics, home repair, or computers as a potential career direction ? What is your target earning potential (ie. how much money do you want to make each year?)
JG
Hi Calvin,
Though it might seem counterproductive, the best thing to do when searching for a job is to narrow your focus as much as possible. Choose what kind of job you want to do and what kind of company you would like to work for and focus on that. Make sure your resume reflects your background in that specific position, then pursue companies who are a match.
Where does your challenge lie? Are you having trouble finding openings? Getting responses to your resume? Getting call backs after interviews? I'm happy to help, but need more clarity on what kind of help you are seeking.
Supervisor / management /cooking and or restaurant management
