I have been applying at the major aerospace employers with no luck yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

With your military background, you may want to consider federal employment.
1. You receive a preference during the hiring process (for most applications);
2. You can buy back your time towards retirement.
My company provides free resume critiques to all military service members. You can submit your resume to us via email or by using our secure online submission form:

Please allow 3-5 business days for completion.
We use two different formats for corporate and federal applications. I can send you examples of each to get you started.

www.usajobs.gov had had some aircraft maintenance jobs. I apologize, I don't recall the agency, but wasn't military. This was a few months ago but www.usajobs.gov is always a cool start.
Hello Kevin,
Besides mainstream aerospace companies, may be it would be helpful also to apply to some of the new ones that are excelling in aerospace technology like Space X and Virgin Galactic.
Good luck in your endeavors.
Kind regards,
Mukhtar
Hello Kevin,
I would like first to thank you for your service to our country. To provide you with constructive advice I need to know a little more about yourself. Your education and level of expertise in your field can make a significant difference for your search. If you consider yourself an expert in aircraft maintenance, consulting for the business community or teaching in a professional school are two attractive options. You should also consider applying for a maintenance supervisor position with one of the commercial airlines.
I also recommend to review the job opportunities with Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman etc....Here are some of the websites:

Best of luck in your search!
Joe
