Hi Harry- The only time America hears about your part of Ohio is when there is a presidential election. Since you are so far from population centers, I would look at the University of Ohio-Athens for employment. All universities have physical plant employees. Universities will offer you health insurance and a pension. Check out their website, they may need someone who can operate a backhoe or a crane. Neil.
Hi Harry,
Not sure how close you are to Athens County but the State of Ohio is hiring a Highway Technician that has equipment operation responsibilities. It closes today at 11:59pm, so hopefully you see this message in time! http://agency.governmentjobs.com/ohio/default.cfm?action=viewJob&jobID=1081025 If not, keep checking back with the state and also try these other job search websites: www.indeed.com and www.simplyhired.com . Also try The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union www.ironworkers.org they have an office in Parkersburg, WV which is 45 minutes from Athens, OH. They regularly have equipment operator jobs available.
I don't have experience in that area, but had a friend in western PA who said gas and oil exploration was booming around there. Good luck!
