Mr. Mattes,
First of all thank you for your service. I would highly consider applying for BNSF. BNSF offers many job opportunities for veterans, especially veterans of your stature. Fort Worth, TX, is the headquarters for BNSF. If you would like to know more send me an email and I will do my best to find you a position you are looking for.

You should return to Texas with much confidence, as Texas has a strong military presence, a strong economy, good pay scales, vibrant growth and job opportunities all leading to employment opportunities in construction. I lived in San Antonio for 5 years and what a great state.
Get your resume professionally done with a strong cover letter that is always personalize not addressed "To Whom This May Concern". Double check spelling even of a pro does the resume and cover letter for you.
Hi Ben

Try Ft. Worth Tower...we are headed in the next few years for L T E series 5 wireless service and the tower demand will be huge.
This depends on your skills but check out Energy Future Holdings and Trinity Industries. These two companies have Hiring Managers specifically for Veteran recruitment. There is also Veterans In Service, a non-profit founded by Roger Staubach. They are located in Dallas and help Vets find jobs. Good luck.
David, I would recommend you explore the hospitality industry. I am now with Marriott and I know hotels always have a team of facility management that is typically called "engineering department" that needs qualified people.
During my time with Hyatt Hotels we also hired a not of engineers. Both Marriott and Hyatt are veteran friendly companies.
Good luck, Karina.
You might look into the Oil and Gas business in West Texas. They may have slowed down hiring but you have specific skills they usually need.
David,
There are quite a few veteran-friendly defense contractors in the Dallas-Ft Worth area that could utilize your skills in the facilities/facilities management arena. Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, and Bell-Textron are a few of the major contractors having a large presence in the DFW metropolitan area. If geography is a secondary consideration, their employment footprints are both nation and worldwide. There are also probably many lower tier defense subcontractors in the area that are veteran friendly.

I hope this information is helpful.
