Registered Nurse (RN) with an MBA

Veteran

I. Roseann Gibbs San Antonio , TX

I'd like to break away from the hospital environment, and work in an administrative capacity for the government. However, I want to stay connected to the healthcare field. A friend suggested working in Human Resources (HR). That would be great, because I enjoy helping people. However, my experience in HR has been in getting most of the services I am expected to offer. I'd love to learn what positions an RN with 12 years of healthcare experience, 3 years of managerial and administrative experience, and an MBA can be eligible to work.

I would also suggest joining an HR focused association such SHRM and looking for health care related job and educational opportunities. Also, certifications in HR would certainly help boost your creditibility.

I would suggest looking into an HR position at a medical facility as a first step. This might be your first step into transitioning into what HR positions you are most suited for. HR has both strategic and administrative related career directions you could explore.
