Terria: Your best bet is to connect with people in the industry. First send your resume to all of your family, friends, and former colleagues. Let them know that getting a job is imperative. They will be your cheerleaders and best helpers.

Then reach out to recruiters. If you don't know any, search for some in your area on LinkedIn.

Finally, go to career fairs to meet recruiters. Find job fair ads and contact the recruiters prior to attending. Here's one for veterans in the Georgia Dome:

The secret is to find the job BEFORE it gets posted on job boards or classifieds. Your chances will be much higher.
