Stapleton,
Given your stated interest in Go-Karts, have you considered also exploring careers related to this interest such as but not limited to car-racing, entertainment parks, firms that manufacture or sell go-karts, etc (e.g. Six-Flags, NASCAR, etc.)

What is it about Go-Karts and Go-Kart racing that interests you?

Hello Stapleton,

I have a friend who is a truck driver and they have recommended the following:

1. Crete - must have HAZMAT (they provide the chance for you to get it)
2. Schneider
3. Old Domnion - must have double/triple endorsements
4. USFHolland
5. Ingles
6. Wal-Mart Distribution Centers (currently begging for drivers)

All above are good companies with good benefits.

Also, my friend is actually coming off the road - if you decide at some point you want to do something different, check out our website at vetsbridge.com. This is not a job board. It's a new way for military veterans to find the companies that fit their future.

Good luck out there - be safe - and enjoy yourself!

Also consider non-trucking firms that hire truckers.
e.g. UPS, FedEx, etc.

Do you prefer union or non-union?

Do you prefer a firm where there is the potential to move into positions other than truck driver?

What are your medium and long-term goals? What do you want to be doing in 3-5 years, and 10 years and beyond?

What actions can you take to enhance your long-term career development? Skills-development, certifications, etc.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly (if you wish to pursue your dream), please tell us about your interest in Go-Karts. "On my off time I love spending time at a Go-Kart track racing go karts. I'm currently looking for a career in the management field. My overall goal in life is to start a prestige Go kart business."
