Just a side note: you don't need a degree for this opportunity.

Gary, I just sent you an email with more detail. I am with a Financial Services distribution company called Primerica. You can look us up on Wikipedia or on NYSE.com or on my website: www.primerica.com/donnamason. The career opportunity can be seen at: www.primericabusinessopportunity.com.

I have friends here in the Tampa Bay, Florida, area who retired from the military. I believe they flew helicopters. They settled at first in Atlanta where they got into Primerica. They now have a base shop here where they have raised their kids. Their business earns them about $300,000 annually.

If they can do it, so can you.

Hello Gary,

Will you be leaving the military soon? I think it would be beneficial for you to look at your options on earning a degree. The civilian world is highly competitive, and while what you do is highly respected, employers major concern is how well you will do the job, and documents such as degrees and certifications matter. Fayetteville has many opportunities, especially for contracting. Is that something that would be of interest to you?

The Merchant Marines is not a bad choice to keep your salary about the same. I believe that Customs and Border Patrol is hiring.

Hello SGT Thanks for your service!

So on this page, I have pulled together I use with vets to assist them in seeing what civilian occupations might match for them. The Career One Stop link might work well for you. It allows you to enter your MOS, and lists careers and occupations, and will even list jobs in your area that match your skill set.

Some military careers match up to civilian occupations than others- nursing, cybersecurity- and a lot of the infantry I've worked with were pretty disappointed in job prospects they saw. College or technical or trade school is a real option. It can add to your skill set pretty quick, you can get housing stipend.

Most major employers these days have a military recruiter and often a military recruiting program. Might want to check their website to see.

I would also set up a LinkedIn account, because it makes it easy to connect with recruiters and groups hiring vets, and a large veteran presence. LinkedIn is sort of Facebook for business, and is used by 90% of recruiters these days. Check it out at www.linkedin.com.

Good luck, and feel free to reach out to me if you need more help!
