Looking for management position in the Fayetteville, NC / Ft Bragg area

Veteran

Todd Servello Fayetteville , NC

I am currently employed as a Senior Technical Trainer with CACI. Our contract is relocating to MO but I am not moving. I am nearing the end of my Masters in Business Management to match my career in the Army and would like to explore management positions with an organization.

I have held many Staff level positions and was the Senior Test NCO for one of the largest test for an Army/ Air Force test (New C-17) aircraft. This was a coast to coast test with many moving parts and many millions of dollars.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

/R,

Todd Servello

First off - Thank you for your service. You shared that you are currently employed as a Senior Trainer and have held many Staff level positions. Your interest in Management would then be a promotion. You will want to demonstrate your experience and "success" managing people and delivering results that are aligned with organizational goals. It is important for a potential future employer to have knowledge of your ability to succeed in a lead role. They must have the confidence to envision you in a management position.
As you review and update your resume, highlight your management skills and leadership achievements. Include the number of people that you have trained and valid results of the training. What were the benefits? Example would be Project Manager leading x number of people on a specific training activity. Share accomplishments, cost savings, process improvements, scheduling etc... Employers are seeking individuals that deliver results so take every opportunity to share your specific successes! If you completed a project ahead of schedule, identified significant improvements, mitigated workscope creep, came in under budget, or avoided additional costs…all these details can strengthen your resume and therefore enhance your chances of being selected for that interview.
Once selected for an interview, again you will want to focus on sharing the facts and data that support your ability to be an effective leader. Prepare question responses that will clearly convey your Management skills and results of application of those skills. Be prepared to share specific examples of when you lead a team of people and what benefits and improvements were achieved under your leadership.

I wish you the very best!
