About Rik
I am a 68 year old, retired hospital administrator with an encore career as a certified personal trainer. I am also a business manager for a small, privately owned publisher. Following retirement from hospital work, I formed a management consulting business and helped small businesses with strategic planning for 8 years before pursuing national certification as a personal trainer. I have been training clients in my in-home studio or their homes for 14 years. I also do pro bono training for the Sisters of the Dominican Order at Marywood in Grand Rapids. I would be willing to train an injured vet for no charge, once his or her rehab has been completed.
I have a B.S. in biology from Hillsdale College (Michigan) and a Master's degree in Public Health with special certification in Health Services Management from the University of Missouri. I am certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
I am a Vietnam vet, serving from 1970 to 1971 in the Navy Reserves on a logistics support base in Nha Be, a river patrol and helicopter attack base in the Mekong Delta.
I have many physical activity passions including kayaking, all kinds of biking, golf and hiking/ backpacking/ camping. I also play a folk guitar and work hard at photography.
I have been married to the same wonderful woman since 1971 and have two amazing daughters and 5 terrific grandchildren.
