What is the best way to find companies that I can do my Masters thesis with?

Veteran

Edward Harris IV

I am pursuing my MSc in Project Management in Sweden and will be writing my masters thesis this spring. My bachelors degree is in Business Management, and I have 8 years military experience (4 as a battalion comms sergeant)

I am trying to figure out the best way to find companies in the U.S. that I can write my thesis with. I think it would be great to work with a company and actually make an impact instead of writing something theoretical. I'm just not sure what is the best way to locate companies interested.

I am interested in studying how trans-national companies communicate with each other. I would prefer a company that has some ties with Sweden, but am open to pretty much anything.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Edward,
I suggest also directing this question to both the headquarters and the local chapters of the Project Management Institute.

Also identify a short list of companies you ideally want to involve in your project. Then develop a networking plan to find contacts within those companies, and build relationships with those "contacts". 2 great places to start are the Advisor+ directory on this site, and the "Veteran Mentor Network" on LInkedIn.

Finally, you can utilize LinkedIn's free "Advanced Search" tool to find individuals that meet certain criteria, including group members, company, etc.
