I am currently seeking a role in project management. I am open to network and would like to hear their opinion in filling this role. I am currently studying to take the PMP exam in January.

The Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA) may be able to provide a mentor in Texas or provide a mentor with connections to Texas. I know we have a board member moving to Texas (San Antonio) soon and a past board president was in Texas.
You can find out more about VPMMA and register for a mentor at https://www.thevpmma.org/.
HI Robert,
Have you considered opportunities as a Scrum Master or Kanban Master. Project management has shifted to Agile methodologies and large portions of the private sector. We see most NCOs well aligned to these skill sets. At the Travelers while we still have people certified as PMP there is more growth in Scrum Masters. If you are interested in learning more about this you can contact me at jporell@travelers.com. I can also direct you to programs we have for transitioning military members at the Travelers.
You may need to do research and find some PM to conduct Informational Interviews. A general shout out in this forum may not produce the results. Do a little digging in LI on a company or a person. Key is to seek information and assistance. People in general really do enjoy assisting veterans or soon to be veterans, just stay away from the "hire" word.
More and more Fortune 500 companies are incorporated the Agile Methodology into their practices. Agile is much more efficient than PMP in many projects. I think you should check it out. I have been working in Agile since I retired 5 years ago
Hi Robert. I'm a project manager/program manager with IBM. I don't live in Texas, but coming from IBM, it really doesn't matter where you live for many/most positions. I've been a PM with IBM for 20 years, managing customer facing software development, consulting gigs, as well as internal projects. I'm currently working with our ecosystem partnership programs. Please contact me directly, if you wish to talk.
