You are getting out of the military and need a job. It's a scary experience. I know... I've been there.

If you have a good work ethic, I would urge you to check-out construction jobs. Skilled workers, such as welders, mechanics, carpenters, equipment operators, etc. are very much in demand. We need entry-level folks. I am speaking from my own experience. I currently work in the DMV (DC, MD, VA) area and we are ever in need of individuals with good work ethic who are drug-free. If you walk in with these basic requirements, you will more than likely be hired. There are many construction jobs up and down the east coast. I'd urge you to check out construction companies, if interested.

Now let's talk about the pay and upward mobility. It'll surprise you. To give you an example, in the last year, I have seen an Army (E-5) hired as an Administrative Assistant and after a stint his management and organizations skills became so obvious that he was advanced to a Project Engineer. Another Air Force (E-5) came in as a laborer and later was hired in a management position. His work ethic allowed him to obtain a management job. Not to mention his salary doubled and in his current position he makes approximately three times his military salary. I, myself, retired from the Navy and have been in management since separating. My current pay scale is about three to four times my military salary.
