I taught for two very rewarding years at American Military University (AMU), and have joined AMU groups on Facebook and Linked In, a tactic I recommend for everything from job leads to social gatherings. Recently, a graduate of AMU posted some guidelines for how to transform your transcript of military training (JST) into actual college credit. Many colleges will evaluate the education and give you credits, if you follow the right procedures. While education isn't the easy entry into a better job that it used to be, it still matters to employers - a lot. Here's his article.

The work that you do to clarify, for college credit, what you learned in the military, will also give you a kick-start on translating military duties and accomplishments into the underlying skills that can inform a really superior resume.
