Veteran looking for Resume Review

Veteran

Lawrence DeBellis Olympia , WA

I am transitioning from the military to the civilian world; not sure if I will land in the government/government contract realm or somewhere in the private sector. I hear that federal resumes are quite different so I have a couple of versions.

I was wondering if anyone would look at them and let me know what you think.

I certain thank anyone in advance.

For job search, google: US Companies that hire military veterans. That should give you a list where you could apply. Hope this helps. June R. Massoud. Computer/Electrical Engineer and Teacher.

Send me your resume and I will look at it. I can offer suggestions. I suggest you could try working for FEMA/Homeland Security, who hire a lot of veterans. My email address is: junermassoud@hotmail.com. Thanks, June R Massoud, Computer/Electrical Engineer and Teacher. Please allow a few days for me to answer.

Lawrence, thank you for your service. I will be happy to review your private sector resume if you will email a copy to billnobles1@hotmail.com. I have no experience with the government sector.

Lawrence,
In regards to federal / GS resumes, there is a new discussion over on the MC4 LinkedIn group that you may find helpful.

"Help with Resume for a VA job"
http://www.linkedin.com/groupItem?view=&gid=3722272&type=member&item=5810025631215280128&qid=214cc5be-6a64-4f4f-a027-7e93173523ab&trk=groups_most_recent-0-b-ttl&goback=%2Egmr_3722272

And also:
A few tips I recall reading:
* I have read advice that suggests building your federal resume from scratch from within usajobs.gov. This person said that uploading and trying to change a resume is less likely to be effective.

* I have read advice that says to copy from the job description and paste into your federal resume.

There is some good advice here:

Lawrence -- I'm happy to review, though I don't have any experience with government-specific resumes. I'm also new to this forum, so not sure how the logistics work -- do you send me your resume?
