How can I complete a graduate degree while working in a civilian career field?

Writing an MS-Plan B paper, my advisor required 13 drafts for my 3 page proposal. I received a perfect score on the GRE essay. I am not sure if it is focus, time management, or what but I'm missing something on the process and have to request an extension from the university. I already have 2 degrees.

Jim,
Congratulations on your ambitious and admirable goal to earn a masters and write a thesis on Homeless Veterans..

What school are you attending? The school you are attending should provide you a wealth of advisory and mentoring resources, including advisors and mentors that are professors, as well as peer advisors and mentors.

Ask around your school for advice and assistance, and please let us know what you find.

Is the topic of your this still " Homeless Veterans"? If yes, as part of your research, you may want to reach out to "Swords to Plowshares" and "Goodwill of Silicon Valley", " Catholic Charities" and "EHC Lifebuilders". I am sure there are many others.

Jim - Feedback is appreciated and useful. Has any of this been helpful and how can we help?

If the graduate degree you desire is in line with the job you currently have, you may be able to get your employer to either pay for the degree or give you time off to attend classes. I work for IBM, and we have programs for people pursuing MBA or Masters in Software Engineering, etc. These programs are not open to everyone, so you will need to prove yourself a valuable employee who has potential first. Your experience in the Army will help here ... you've clearly proven yourself valuable, if you have been promoted to Staff Sergeant. Best wishes.
