Hello all,
I am a retired army officer who holds a MBA and an MS in Finance from Texas A&M - Commerce. I am a Senior Project/Program Manager and located in San Antonio, TX. I am very interested in getting to know people who have worked at or work for USAA (especially Talent Recruiters). USAA is honestly my top company that I would love to work for and climb the ladder at, now that my military career has come to a end. If anyone has any insights on how to acquire a senior position there, or wants to share their story of how they attained a position there, I would be very grateful.
-I am currently reaching out to the talent acquisition personnel on LinkedIn, and have applied to various positions through their career portal, but I am sure there are other methods I should be utilizing that I am just ignorant of at the moment.

Loy,
Keep in mind, networking is a significant part of the job search process. It has become even more prevalent since COVID. You LinkedIn profile does not contain any "value", education and a description of your PM is appropriate, but lacks #$% that employers look for in selecting candidates. USAA is very veteran friendly, but like all companies will need to see WIIFM,(WhatIsInItForMe) with every hire. I would highly recommend you reach out to American Corporate Partners and work on obtaining mentor. This organization is top notch at matching industry mentors with transitioning service members. I would also look at conducting some Information Interviews in the selected career field (assume if is project management). Learn the industry lingo and what companies look for and desire in a project manager, then provide it in your profile. Here are a couple of articles on some basic LinkedIn and career research techniques.
Remember that you are part of the 0.5% of Americans who serve their country. You are very well respected, but the chance civilians have been part of the 0.5% simply means they will not understand your language or experiences-without translation. Thank you for your support and sacrifices. God Bless https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/come-prepared-transition-process-gap-between-civilian-jerry-welsh/
