For JS and Web, you are going for a front end web developer role. Start with your public library and see if it gives accounts with online learning such as treehouse.

See if you can cover ReactJS also
Pair it with a 100 day challenge of coding something

For your wanting to transition into HighTech.
Consider Web design, if you have noticed an inclination to think of making websites such as this one better, easier, etc
Consider graphics design, if you like drawing, color, etc
Consider security, if you like to dig into breaking and catching systems.

Plan for it as a 2-3 year project

Great to hear! I have a few recommendations for you:

1) Take a look at Codecademy. They are a free service that teaches HTML, CSS, Javascript. There is also a paid option that provides certifications upon completing of the course. Here is a link to their site, highly recommended, I used them to learn basic HTML and CSS: https://www.codecademy.com/

2) On the job front, there are a few organizations that do courses and assist with direct job placements like General Assembly, Flatiron School, or other similar organizations. The rub is their tuition can range from 15 to 20k. That said, they do offer services for veterans, General Assembly is very veteran-friendly, but if you do not have GI Bill, it could be more difficult for financing, but suggest to reach out and see what options are available.

3) Connect with one of our mentors on our "Community" tab. You can go to our advisors tab and filter by "Information Technology". From there you can filter by experience level and zip code. Then you can pick an advisor and directly message them about best practices on making the transition to the tech space.
