I am retiring from the military and I am looking to relocate to either GA or TX and wanted to know what the market looks like at either locations.

Chief Turner,
Remember that you are part of the 0.5% of Americans who serve their country. You are very well respected, but the chance civilians have been part of the 0.5% simply means they will not understand your language or experiences-without translation. Thank you for your support and sacrifices. God Bless https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/come-prepared-transition-process-gap-between-civilian-jerry-welsh/

I don't know anything about Georgia, but I know that San Antonio is doing pretty well at the moment. Without knowing what kind of work you are looking for, its hard to be more specific than that. Good luck.
Atlanta has been booming - and even during the COVID-19 outbreak, there has been no slowdown in building, construction, and the announcement of companies relocating offices/jobs to Atlanta. Move to where you want to be, and identify what you want to do. It is easier to find a job if you first target what you want to do and then write a resume highlighting transferable skills. Home Depot (headquartered in Atlanta) hires many military veterans.
Connect with each state's Workforce Connection offices and work with the Dept. of Labor representatives that only work with Veterans. They'll be able to point you in the right direction.
Theodore - First, thank you for your service. Glad you have narrowed down your geographic preferences Mr. Turner. There are alot of jobs out there, so you will need to think and process a few more items to filter out all the noise of looking for jobs. Hopefully you have 3 specific jobs you are looking at, otherwise if it is 'whatever', it will become overwhelming for sure! If you have a few ideas of what you want to do (3 job titles, and what industry); so my question is, what transferable skills, certifications, education do you have to bring through your resume to be attractive to these jobs? This and many other pre-planning actions are critical to make your job search successful and efficient. If you would like additional insight - we have 5 books on military transition. I am here to help. Good luck and God Bless you.
